During the course of this semester, I found that adaptability was very important. I had no delusions that the seat and cockpit was the most important aspect of the solar car - after all, a seat doesn’t make the car roll. However, in order to complete other parts of the car (lower shell, upper shell brackets, etc.) the cockpit needed to be planned and designed. The most valuable lesson learned this semester in designing this seat was learning how to accommodate other systems while designing your own. Also, ergonomic analysis caused me to re-evaluate the prioritized aspects of the seat and bracket. The size and geometry of the bracket proved to be far more important than its adjustability. This resulted in another potential alteration to the design which will be incorporated in the near future.Return to Report Summary Page
