When designing the solar car the team was given requirements or a rule book from the American Solar Challenge. The section regarding wiring and lines is openended just wanting safety. But like any automobile everything need its place and be accessible.
The solar car would have many wires because it is run entirely by electricity. There would be wires running throughout the car connecting the solar cells, batteries, ventilation fans, electric motor, and electical components. Also brake lines would be needed to connect the mastercylinders to the calipers. These wires and lines would need to be organized, secured and run throughout the car in areas with limited space and be safe from each other, the elements, and the driver. The wires and lines must also be accessible for maintenance and modifications.
