The University of Utah solar car has a number of requirements for the steering system. The only component missing for the steering system is the rack and pinion. The first thing that needed to be done was take all the measurements of the existing car and evaluate if the frame and front suspension would allow for the turning radius required. The second thing was to design or buy a rack and pinion that would work for the solar car.
