Final Selection and Support
With the requirement of turning radius of 6 meters, the turning centers needed to be calculated to assure the rack and pinion can produce enough linear travel to achieve this. Below is the sketches of the turning center:
The solar car has a 20.5 degrees turning angle, which will be adequate to make the 6 meter turning radius requirement. The rack selected will produce enough linear travel to turn the 20.5 degrees need to make the turn.
