The company EFI Electronics, a brand of Schneider Electric, is a design, manufacturing, and testing facility that builds surge suppression devices for various applications. One of their products, the T-40w, is designed to protect a building from electrical surges. These buildings, usually large buildings, have a 3 phase power system and can contain massive amounts of power running through them.
While building the T-40w product, a test is completed to make sure that it will take an electrical surge and ground it, without damaging the building that it will protect. The current test involves an operator going step by step through testing each phase, including full-power-up. This is time consuming and can involve operator error.

While building the T-40w product, a test is completed to make sure that it will take an electrical surge and ground it, without damaging the building that it will protect. The current test involves an operator going step by step through testing each phase, including full-power-up. This is time consuming and can involve operator error.
The goal for the project is to redesign the test procedure and fixture so that it can be completely automated. This will eliminate operator error as well as create more time for the operator to continue building the product. The test fixture will also record results and notify the operator of the results of the test.
The next step of the project will be to incorporate the results of the test into a quality control system. This can be done either by saving the results to a memory file or by attaching them directly to the product. The group will evaluate these different methods and decide how best to incorporate these results.
