Conclusion
The student designed a shifter and clutch interface for a Formula SAE race car. The student decided on the requirements and specifications the design solution must comply with, generated concepts through methods such as brainstorming and hand drawing, refined the most viable designs and used a design selection matrix to make the final selection, and finally developed a shifter/clutch interface that is lightweight, easy to manufacture and maintain, uses common parts, and most importantly is easy and quick to use. Formula SAE will implement this design on its race car and have an edge on the competion at Formula SAE West this summer.
