This lab Lab wraps up the CAD laboratory sequence with tutorials on CAD Animation and Finite Element Analysis of a Pin Joint
- There is nothing to turn in for the animation lab
- Please turn in a stress contour plot of you joint-analysis FEA that is annotated with an arrow pointing to the location of max stress on the part including the value of that maximum stress.
- Please include the amount of time it takes you to complete this lab, when you turn it in.
- Lab 10 is posted here.

Lab 10 FAQ
The animation tutorial for ProE was written for Wildfire 2.0 so there are some parts of the tutorial that you will not follow exactly. Here are some tips to help you through the tutorial.]
[Page 2
- The interface for adding components to an assembly is different in Wildfire 3.0. A dialogue box doesn’t appear when you choose to add componenets, rather the options appear in the dashboard. To specify connection types, use the left most drop down box.
- To assemble the jaws to the main body choose pin in the left most drop down box. Click on the A1 axis of the jaws and then the A1 axis of the main body. Then choose the DTM3 plane on the jaws and the DTM3 plane on the main body. If you have done it correctly in the dashboard it will say \”STATUS: Connection Definition Complete\”. If you need to change the connection definition, click on the placement tab.

- There is no yellow symbol in the graphics area but a small box will appear in the model tree next to the part if you have done it correctly.
- To complete the assembly on this page follow the same directions for the previous connection made substituting the correct axes and planes.
Page 4
- To make a new connection (the cylinder connection) click on the Placement tab and after you have fully defined the slider connection you can choose New Set. Click on the A2 axes of both the screw and the main body.
- After entering the mechanism application click on the hand with the brown x to bring up the Drag dialog box. To open up the entire box click on the arrow next to Snapshots.
