Author: Paulo BoteroTeam: Solar Car

A list of all things needed to complete the vehicle by the posted deadline was made at the bigining of the semester. From this list, team members chose parts that interested them and took responsibility for completing those projects by the determined date. I chose to come up with designs that will allow the brake master cylinders be mounted horizontally, as well as redesign the pivot point for the brake pedal. The brake system was not functional, because it could not be bled. To bleed the brakes the master cylinders must be horizontal, this way they can be topped off, preventing air from entering the lines. Due to confined space and dimensions of the existing brake pedals, the mounts needed to be small, strong and not change the position of the brake pedal.

The pivot point for the brake pedal needed to be redesigned because a long bolt was used as a support bar and numerous washers put side by side to act as spacers. By fixing those mistakes, the brake pedal will be smoother and more reliable.
