10/25/06
- Meeting today at 5:00 PM Eric’s office.
09/28/06
- For the weekly team meeting, we discussed the meeting we had yesterday with Eric and Kevin with the rest of the team. We came to the conclusion that we would decrease the diameter of the device apparatus so as to yield a more accomodating design. Toward this aim, we also intend to purchase an extruded cylinder in place of forming the cylinder. Randi will investigate available pricing and inform the team as to the cost of a 12 in. diameter and 24 in. high cylindrical tube. We organized the next team memo schedule as well as discussed future deadlines.

- For the team meeting, we discussed the primary upcoming deliverables and who would be responsible for them. Team members unfamiliar with the purchased products visited the Kennecott basement. The setup of the machine was described. The radial blower and humidifier were experimented with to produce the rotary flow using the circulation generator pipe with holes along its length. This process proved successful, however, the fan does not provide sufficient updraft at a height of three feet, we tested it at a height of about 1.5 feet where both the updraft/output were high enough, so we will investigate other options, specifically, a more powerful radial blower. Some team members wanted to use a larger humidifier to increase fog production, hence, we will investigate that shortly. Short term objectives are listed in CurrentTasksAndDeadlines.
- Next team meeting on Wednesday 4:00 PM Eric’s office.
09/18/06
- Team meeting on Thursday (Nov. 21st) at 5:30 PM in the CADE Lab.
09/11/06
- All construction materials for the Tornado Machine Team have been moved to the downstairs senior design storage room in Kennecott. The radial blower has also arrived, hence, all materials needed to build the machine are currently in on campus. Team members may utilize the Cyrolon ZX or other materials to continue building the upper chamber. We will continue chassis construction this week.
08/30/06
- We finalized our deliverables, detailed the budget, updated the schedule, and discussed the overall progress made thus far. We plan to continue construction of the lower and upper chambers as well as acquire the fan within the following two weeks when we will hold our second team meeting. We will bring the parts constructed thus far and detail any manufacturing difficulties as well as describe the current project status. Curtis will write this week’s memo/draft summary while Jeff and Randi will work on the upcoming presentation. Rion and Jordan will assist with tornado construction.
- This week’s meeting will be held on Wednesday August 30th at 04:00 PM in 160 KENN (Eric’s office). All subsequent meetings will be located at KENN 160 (or the conference room around the corner). After this first meeting, we will collectively agree to a specific meeting time at which to hold the bi-weekly meetings. If you are unable to attend this first meeting, send Curtis your list of available meeting times and he will find the time that is optimal for everyone.
