Prior to the site up-grade, experiments   utilized generator-based power and radio-based communications. Furthermore,   instrumentation literally had to be setup in a manner that left it exposed   to the elements.

The SLTEST site now affords dedicated power (110V, 208V and 480V), telephone   communications, and a fiber-optic computer link. Other site improvements  include a staging area upon which air-conditioned instrumentation and data  acquisition trailers are located.

To better accommodate detailed studies in the immediate vicinity of the  surface, a Near Surface Turbulence Measurement Platform ( NSTMP) was constructed as  well.

The following are schematics and pictures of the test site.
