ME General Education Requirements

University Requirements:
American Institutions (AI): must be taken for letter grade (not CR/NC)
ECON 1740 or HIST 1700 or POLS 1100
Writing Requirement (WR2): must earn C– letter grade or better

Intellectual Exploration Courses * - 2 each of Fine Arts , 2 each of Humanities Courses, 2 each of Social Science
Diversity Requirement **
International Requirement **
Quantitative Reasoning - automatically met with MATH 1210 & MATH 1220 (or similar)
Upper Division Writing - automatically met with ME EN 3910
Quantitative Intensive - automatically met with ME EN 3200 & ME EN 3210
* Physical & Life Sciences courses are not required for engineering degrees.
** Many courses double count. Refer to the Undergraduate Bulletin to determine which courses are assigned both designations.
Mechanical Engineering Depth and Breadth Requirements
One of the courses from Intellectual Exploration, Diversity Requirement, or International Requirement above must be completed at the Upper Division 3000 level or higher (this requirement is automatically met by the new International Requirement.)
Two of the courses from Intellectual Exploration, Diversity Requirement, or International Requirement above must form a two course sequence (where the second course builds upon the ideas of the first course).
One additional Upper Division course OR one additional two course sequence
