Dept. of Mechanical Engineering Scholarships and Fellowships
We will be accepting applications beginning January 1st through February 15th.
Deadline: February 15
If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications are due on the first following work day.
Required application materials:
- Dept. of Mechanical Engineering Application Form (complete electronically, print and sign)
- Official Transcripts
- Personal statement outlining academic and professional goals and how a scholarship will impact your education
The online application is to be used for all the scholarships listed below, unless noted otherwise. Submit the completed application to the Mechanical Engineering Office (2110 MEB). No letters of reference are required.
Selection criteria:
- grade point average (GPA)
- academic achievements
- extra-curricular activities
- professional and academic interests
- financial need, and
- receipt of other scholarship, fellowship, or financial awards
You should apply if your GPA is above 3.3 (however, doing so does not guarantee that you will receive an award). Additionally, depending on the stipulations of the award donor, different criteria are considered for different awards.
ME Undergrad Scholarships
Wiggins Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by Bob Wiggins in memory of Linda Wiggins to an outstanding undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering who is a US citizen with strong Utah roots.

This scholarship is provided by Boeing to an outstanding junior or senior in Mechanical Engineering with an interest in aeronautics.

CEntry Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by CEntry to an outstanding junior or senior in Mechanical Engineering who is a graduate of a Utah High School, has close ties to Utah, is a US citizen, and has a career interest in consulting or construction engineering. An essay addressing the consulting or construction engineering is required. Applications for this scholarship are to be submitted to the College of Engineering.

This scholarship is provided by VanBoerunm & Frank Associates to an outstanding junior or senior in Mechanical Engineering who is a long-term resident of Utah, is a US citizen, and has a career interest in consulting. An essay addressing the interest in consulting is required. Applications for this scholarship are to be submitted to the College of Engineering.
