The RoboUtes will be joining the Society of Women Engineers University of Utah Section for the second annual Girl Scout Night Jr. this Friday, November 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the WEB Catmull Gallery! The theme for this year’s event is “Robots Rock!” where more than 75 Girl Scouts grades K through 5 from the Greater Salt Lake City area will learn through discovery by building an electromagnetic motor, creating a hydraulic lever, and learning how robotics will impact their lives.
The attendees will get to experience the RoboUte’s telepresent robotic system COLE V, recently returned from NASA’s RASC-AL Robo-Ops competition; COLE is operated via an augmented reality headset and uses its robotic arm to collect samples from its environment. Additionally, the Girl Scouts will get to experience a live demonstration of 3D printing and learn how this technology was influential in the development of the Cole V robotic system.
Attending adults can view the activities, or have a chance to participate in parent and educator sessions, which will include a panel of female engineers and engineering students.
