We often hear about and applaud thinking outside the box as a clever way of thinking that happens during brainstorming sessions or problem solving situations. It is a safe activity that may or may not lead to anything. However, when you take thinking outside the box to the next level, you get working outside the box which is a risky, disruptive, and often time-consuming endeavor that sometimes results in failure. Learn about Dr. Dave’s adventures of success and failure as he has taken risks to work outside the box.
David Christensen is an Associate Professor and Chair of Engineering at Utah Tech University. Over the last 8 years, he has been at the startup of four engineering bachelor’s degrees, taught 23 different courses, developed 13 courses, planned and assembled 8 lab spaces, and much more.
