The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is hosting their annual eScience Conference in Salt Lake City this October. This conference is an opportunity for interdisciplinary research communities to come together to promote eScience and its associate technologies, applications, algorithms, and tools with a strong focus on practical solutions and challenges.

The overarching theme of eScience 2022 conference is “Democratizing eScience”. This year, the conference is emphasizing three key topics:

  • Translational Research in Computer and Computational Sciences
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Science
  • Data and Data Democratization

The conference will be held October 11th through 14th at the Thomas S. Monson Center, located in downtown Salt Lake. In addition to the keynote, tutorials, workshops, technical sessions, there is a student program focused on facilitating interaction between students and other conference attendees. The conference will have panels, training in emerging technologies, and introductions into mentoring and workforce development strategies.

Organizers of the conference include several University of Utah faculty, including department of mechanical engineering assistant professor Pania Newell serving as Technical Chair.
