Engineers at the University of Utah have developed a navigating system using the driver’s fingertips. “What we’re doing is apply a patch to the skin, you can feel which direction the stretch is applied in and therefore apply a direction cue from the applied skin stretch,” said Professor William Provancher. “When you have a task that is visual and auditory demanding that we’re able to communicate with you pretty constantly through sense of touch.”
