Principle investigator (PI), mechanical engineering assistant professor Owen Kingstedt received a three-year U.S. Department of Energy NEUP (Nuclear Energy University Programs) collaborative grant of $776,669, with co-PI’s Utah State University assistant professor Ryan Berke, as well as University of Utah mechanical engineering assistant professors Jiyoung Chang and Ashley Spear. Their grant entitled, “Benchmarking microscale ductility measurements,” proposes to address the micro/nano-scale experimentation shortcomings as it relates to the inability to directly translate measurements evaluated at the nm and µm length scales. It will fund four graduate students in the area of nuclear materials research.
