ORLANDO, FL – Sean Moran, a Masters student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah, won the “Best Master’s Student Poster” award at the 2011 Air & Waste Management Association’s Conference and Exposition (AWMA).

Sean is a student of Dr. Eric Pardyjak’s and works in the Environmental Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the U. The title of Mr. Moran’s paper, and accompanying winning poster, is “Developing Strategies for Fugitive Dust Mitigation and Transport Flux using Native Vegetative Windbreaks for Dust Control.” Sean’s research focuses on “wind tunnel dispersion studies to identify how turbulence can be used to enhance dust deposition to improve air quality,” said Dr. Pardyjak.

This year’s conference was held in Orlando, FL, where “thousands of environmental professionals from around the world [come to participate in] outstanding technical programs, exhibits of the latest products and services, and for networking and professional development opportunities,” according to the AWMA.

Congratulations Sean!
