The Primary Research Areas in the Department of Mechanical Engineering include: Bio-mechanical, Composite Materials, Controls, Design, Energy Systems, Ergonomics and Safety, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Manufacturing, Microsystems and Nanosystems, Thermodynamics, Robotics, and Solid Mechanics.

The mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to cultivate an environment through teaching, research, and service that fosters the technical, critical thinking, and communication skills necessary for students and faculty to contribute to the engineering profession and to the well-being of society.

Faculty Positions:

State funding of higher education in Utah has been significantly reduced. While economically strong, we are feeling the same forces that are affecting all. Thus we are suspending all searches for new faculty at this time. Our hope is that we will reopen the searches next year when economic projections change for the better.
